Planet Mongo

Planet Mongo is a free minimalist content manager written in the PHP language. It is does not use MySQL, PEAR, or PHP5. It is targetted towards simple or personal websites that do not need the bulk of large content managers but still could benefit from the organization and simplification of a content manager.

Planet Mongo is designed for the tinkerer. It is a framework that is very easy to expand and modify. Also, it allows PHP code and "Planet Mongo commands" to be used in just about any file or property, unlike most larger content managers.

The newest version is Planet Mongo v0.03a. Planet Mongo is still in its alpha stages, although it is quite usable.

  • Blogs and personal web pages

    You want set up a site for you or your family? Planet Mongo is perfect. It's super customizable, and easy to set up on free webservers do to its minimal system requirements. It has a news module that can be easily used for a blog, and a guestbook/comment module for hearing feedback. Best of all, it's very flexible, and perfect for making a website that is very personalized and striking.

    Planet Mongo's main focus is on simple, static, non-interactive websites, such as webfliers for businesses or band pages. Planet Mongo's ultra-flexible system is very useful for making unique and artistic web-designs.

Planet Mongo is not intended for...

  • Community sites with many users

    Planet Mongo does not have a user system. Although in the future that may be added, it will not be a high priority. Planet Mongo is not intended for communities.

  • An "instant webpage for dummies" program

    Some basic computer usage is required for using Planet Mongo. At the moment, there isn't even any web interface. All configuring is done directly through editting files. All you need'll need to know, however, is just some basic knowledge of file systems and file editting.
